FB Book Party

So tomorrow I’m participating in a FB book party. I am severe introvert so this is not in my wheelhouse. I wrote in a previous post how much I hated throwing parties (at least I think I did).

But in this case there’s a bunch of authors getting together to have a 2-day event. Each author has a 30 minute segment, which will work for me. Plus, it’s Facebook, so it’ll be easier for me to be myself behind a screen =).

In any case, I’d be happy if you’d join me. My segment is from 3:30-4:00pm EST, but come in the morning (it starts at 11:00 am EST) and participate throughout the entire two days if you can. They’re giving away a $40 amazon giftcard to the person who makes the most comments throughout the event. And, you can meet some new authors and participate in more giveaways.

The event is being held here: https://www.facebook.com/events/170327406944082/

CORRECTION! There was a snafu so the event is being held here instead: https://www.facebook.com/events/176134506349323

Hope to see you there!

Exciting Updates!

Sorry about the silence . . .

I made it through Hurricane Irma A-okay. Right now, I am in New York for a few months which puts most of my writing work on hold. But I have a few projects I plan to be working on while I’m up here.

One project is the Silver Foxes comic that I’ve been drawing. I took a little break from it, but plan to pick it back up while I’m away. I don’t have access to a scanner or anything for the moment, but I can at least get a lot of penciling done.

My second project is a bit of a secret right now, but I hope I can get it done by the new year.

Project three is working on marketing. I’ve been taking a class, and got some really good ideas about how to market my books. So far, I’ve learned about Facebook ads, how to leverage a Facebook page to make maximum impact for those ads, and BookBub ads and featured deals. Can’t wait to try out what I learned.

But the most important project is getting ready for my book, Prince of the Sun, Princess of the Moon. You see, when I was sent the galleys from my publisher to review–about 2 weeks ago–I overlooked the most important sentence of the e-mail. I have a RELEASE DATE! And what is it?

***Feb. 20, 2018!***

That’s when my book will be released. I am so excited! I’m going to spend the rest of September finalizing what I’ll do for promotions and then work on it from October onward. Look for posts involving crafts inspired by the book or character profiles or things like that in the near future.

Ideas and Doubts

So I’ve started to prepare for the release of my book . . . just doing research and planning what to post about, where to go, people to speak to–things like that. To that end, I tried to think about things I could post on instagram that will connect with my teen girl readers.

For instance, some adorable diy galaxy jewelry I remember watching a tutorial on.

From: http://youdiyinfo.com/diy-galaxy-necklace-ring-pendants/

That set me off on so many ideas I could tie in to my book’s theme! Cute diy bleach moon shirts. Pretty diy galaxy notebooks. Maybe I could make some to use as giveaways during my launch party! I was so excited thinking about it all!

Then the doubts kicked in.

“That’s not how book promotion is done.”

“No one’s going to want to see that.”

“You’re doing it wrong.”

It’s daunting. But I won’t give up. Maybe it’ll work, maybe it won’t. But it won’t be for lack of trying.

So go away doubts! Sink or swim, I’m not listening to you anymore!
